Allay Chair has been designed as the archetypal lounge chair but has been reduced to as few lines as possible. The chair has a sense of familiarity and a calm and inviting presence. Craft and simplicity have been combined to create a chair that will age gracefully and balances aesthetics with practicality and durability. The name Allay comes from the Old English word alecgan, which means “to put down”, as in literally “to lighten”. So, if you allay something, you are calming it or reducing its difficulties. Available in ash, oak or walnut, the piece is made using a combination of CNC and hand joinery.
